HRS research shows that family often make moves to be geographically closer in order to be able to help each other out.50Changes in ResidenceChanges in health can often lead to changes in residence. Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of disability. Having a cardiovascular event, such as a heart attack, increases the likelihood of children and adult parents moving in with and closer to each other. If the person who had the cardiovascular event does not have a spouse or partner, then a move is even more likely. Having a daughter also makes a move more likely.5123'
