HRS Tracker 2006 (Final, Version 3.0)
August 12, 2009
The HRS Tracker 2006 (Final, Version 3.0) is now available.
The HRS 2006 Tracker file contains one observation for each individual who has ever been eligible to be interviewed by HRS in any wave. For each person, it contains several fixed demographic characteristics and a large number of wave-specific variables indicating interview status, information about if, how, and when an interview was conducted, as well as information on nursing home status, and pension estimation information. The HRS 2006 Tracker file also contains wave-specific sample weights for HRS households, respondents, and nursing home residents. Beginning in 2004, weights for Physical and Leave-Behind measures are included. A detailed description of the data is provided in the accompanying documentation file.
What’s new:
- Sample Line Dropped. It was discovered that someone we had thought was a partner was in fact a tenant renting a room from the respondent. Therefore, the line for HH 211430 PN 011 has been deleted.
- The following variables were added.
CAMS07 2007 CAMS SAMPLE STATUS INTRNT06 2006 INTERNET SURVEY SAMPLE STATUS INTRNT07 2007 INTERNET SURVEY SAMPLE STATUS DVSA07 2007 DVS-A SAMPLE STATUS DVSB07 2007 DVS-B SAMPLE STATUS DEATHMO MONTH OF DEATH DEATHYR YEAR OF DEATH DODSOURCE SOURCE OF EXIT DATE OF DEATH KNDIFLAG NDI 2006 ALIVE OR DECEASE FLAG KPMWGTR RESPONDENT WEIGHT FOR THE 2006 PHYSICAL MEASURES SUBSAMPLE> KBIOWGTR RESPONDENT WEIGHT FOR THE 2006 BIOMARKER SUBSAMPLE KLBWGTR RESPONDENT WEIGHT FOR THE 2006 LEAVE BEHIND QNAIRE

- Changes in xALIVE.
After a review of these variables, the "vital status unknown" category has been eliminated.
- Changes to RACE and HISPANIC.
After a review of these variables, 354 lines (for RACE) and 119 lines (for HISPANIC) were updated.
- Changes to xINSAMP.
An extensive review of consistency was completed for all versions of xINSAMP, which resulted in small changes to the following variables: CINSAMP, EINSAMP, FINSAMP, GINSAMP, HINSAMP, JINSAMP, and KINSAMP.
Note: Be sure to check the HRS File Merge Cross-Reference Table for up-to-date information on the restricted data merge status of this data set.
