HRS ADAMS 1 data (Early, Version 5.0)
July 24, 2009
The sensitive health data release of HRS ADAMS 1 (Early, Version 5.0) is now available. It includes the following:
- A New ADAMS Tracker File. The ADAMS tracker file contains demographic, sample weight (including a corrected version of the sample weight AASAMPWT_F), and field outcome variables for Waves A-C.
- The First Release of Wave C Data. Section CD includes Assessment Outcomes, the Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR), the Hachinski Scale, Dementia Severity Rating Scale (DSRS), and the Blessed Dementia Rating.
- Corrections to the Blessed Dementia Scale Scores. ADBLSCOR in section AD and BDBLSCOR in section BD have been modified to correct a previous error -- in Release 1.0, scores ending in .5 were rounded to the nearest whole number. A total of 297 subjects were affected by this issue. A few revisions have been made to the Wave A and B codebooks. No other changes have been made in release 5.0 to the previously released Wave A and Wave B files.
Note: The data description and codebook files included in the Version 5.0 Early data release were prepared in June, and include references to a June 2009 release date.
Rather than a single file for download (adams1.exe or adams1.zip) containing both Wave A and Wave B files as in previous releases, the ADAMS data (version 5.0) release contains four separate files for downloading: 1) ADAMS Tracker files, 2) ADAMS Wave A files, 3) ADAMS Wave B files, and 4) ADAMS Wave C files.
The data set may be downloaded from the HRS Public File Download Area. Registration (free) is required for access. Be sure to check the HRS File Merge Cross-Reference Table for up-to-date information on the restricted data merge status of this data set.
