HRS 1994 Imputation Release (Version 3.0)

November 24, 2003

The HRS 1994 Imputation (Version 3.0) Dataset is now available. Covering nine sections of the HRS 1994 interviews, and containing data for 11,596 respondents and 6,979 households, this release supersedes the previous release (Version 2.0, May 2001) of this data.

Compared to the previous version, this release includes for the first time the imputations for Sections C (Cognition), E (Family Structure), S (Widowhood and Divorce), V (Asset Changes), Kid (Kids), and Par (Parents). In addition, the imputation data for Sections D (Housing), K (Assets and Debts), and N (Income) that were in the previous release have been updated, based on a slightly modified program that is more consistent with one used for the imputations in other HRS/AHEAD waves.

Please note that although the most extreme outliers were excluded from the imputation process used to fill missing data, they remain in the reported data. Users may wish to review distributions and consider the use of robust statistical procedures to minimize the impact of any outliers on their analyses.

The dataset may be downloaded from the HRS Public File Download Area. Registration (free) is required for access.

If you find any problems with the data, please report them to us via the Help Desk, or by sending e-mail directly to hrsquestions@umich.edu.
