HRS and AHEAD Tracker File (Version 2.0) Release
The tracker file (version 2.0) for the Health and Retirement Study (HRS) and Asset and Health Dynamics among the Oldest Old (AHEAD) is now available. HRS/AHEAD users who want to use the data must register. To do so, go to the main HRS web page (http://hrsonline.isr.umich.edu/), and follow the links "Data" and "Access to Public Data".
A person-level data set, the tracker file includes all individuals who were ever interviewed, or whose spouses or partners were ever interviewed, in the HRS/AHEAD project. It contains basic demographic information as well as wave- specific information for HRS1992 - HRS1998 (including the AHEAD waves). It can be used to understand the interview history of respondents, to establish longitudinal links between respondents in the same household, and to get appropriate weights for the analysis of the HRS/AHEAD core data. Analysts are warned that age variables constructed from tracker data using birth dates and interview dates do not necessarily correspond to the age variables on the public release data files for each wave that were used during the interview to determine skip patterns.
If you find any problems with the file, please report to us by email at our help desk address firstname.lastname@example.org.
