NIA R03 Program Announcements Follow-up

01/26/98

Dear Colleagues:

There seems to be plenty of justifiable confusion surrounding the National Institute on Aging's two (2) R03 (small grants) program announcements for 1998.

The first one, entitled NATIONAL INSTITUTE ON AGING: PILOT RESEARCH GRANT PROGRAM, was published in the January 9, 1998 NIH Guide; this permits original data collection in certain topic areas.

We hope our 1998 R03 program announcement for Secondary Analysis in Demography and Economics of Aging will be published soon, pending all necessary approvals. It will be pretty similar to our 1997 announcement which can be accessed at http://www.nih.gov/nia/ - go to Funding and Training, Program Announcements, Behavioral and Social Research Program, PAR-97-032. We don't know what the application deadlines will be, although we hope they'll be quite similar to those of last year. When the new secondary analysis R03 announcement is published, we will advertise it here. The NIA Pilot Research Grant Program announcement mentioned above can also be accessed at this website.
