Biennial Interview Questionnaires
The following table cross-references Core interview questionnaire content by section across wave. Questionnaires are stored in Adobe PDF format. For year 2002 and thereafter, box and arrow representations of both Core and Exit interviews are included in each questionnaire set; prior to 2002 box and arrow questionnaires were only provided for Core interviews. Note: Some questions are asked every second, third, or fourth waves; details are available in the Alternate Wave Questions Master Chart

Survey questions
replicate those asked in the biennial interviews. In addition, there are questions about preferences

Notes
1: AHEAD 1995 questionnaires are machine-generated representations of the original SurveyCraft specification files. They are not constructed in the traditional 'box and arrow' format.
2: HRS 1996 D (Family Structure, Transfers) is now available in draft format.
3: 2002 Questionnaire: These section files are final versions of the HRS 2002 Core and Exit Box-and-Arrow Questionnaire. For the convenience of researchers who wish to compare 2002 questions with previous versions, each question retains the 2000 Surveycraft question number and short label. Example:
R002
Q5918
N1. Now I'd like to ask you some questions...
In this example, R002 is the 2002 Blaise fieldname, Q5918 is the 2000 Surveycraft question number and N1. is the Surveycraft short label.
2002 is the first wave for which the HRS has produced a public release Box-and-Arrow Questionnaire for the Exit interview. Except for J, "Current Employment", Core and Exit versions of the questions appear in the same document. Not all sections are relevant to Exit interviews. In those that have Exit questions, a description of protocols for identifying Exit-relevant text is described at the beginning of the section. Essentially, exclusively Exit wording appears in fuchsia while core remains in black. (In some PDF files, all text is seen as black, with the Exit wording appearing somewhat lighter than that of the Core.)
4: Beginning in 2004, questionnaires for Modules are machine-generated representations of the original Blaise specification files.
