Cross-National Projects
- English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA); see also the ELSA Respondents' Website. The ELSA data set is available through the Economic and Social Data Service. Note: Potential users must set up an ATHENS account through ESDS in order to obtain ELSA data.
- The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA): A planned nationally representative survey that will act as the foundation for planning appropriate health, medical, social and economic policies. The proposed study will provide a comprehensive and accurate picture of the characteristics, needs and contributions of older persons in Ireland.
- Mexican Health and Aging Study (MHAS): A prospective panel study of health and aging in Mexico. Data and documentation are available at this site.
- New Zealand Health, Work and Retirement Survey: A biennial study of the influences on health and wellbeing in later midlife (55 to 70 years). This study is conducted by Massey University in collaboration with the Health Research Council of New Zealand.
- Survey of Health, Aging and Retirement in Europe (SHARE):
The initial release of SHARE data is now available;
details on obtaining these data are available on the SHARE Web site.
Prospective users must sign a statement confirming that information about individual persons,
households etc. will not be released to others. Data will only be made available after signed statements
to this effect have been received.
